“Fresh. Simple. O
rganic.” This is what Traders Point Creamery is all about. I had the opportunity to meet with Gail Alden, Director of Marketing and Events at Traders Point Creamery, and talk a little bit about the family-owned artisan and
creamery. Traders Point Creamery was opened in 2003 by Jane and Peter Kunz, MD. Gail explains that it was created with the notion that we have the responsibility to “nourish the land that nourishes us all.” This means providing locally grown organic foods with no artificial hormones and caring for the animals with the utmost respect. All of the cows on the farm are 100% grass fed and given no hormones. All vegetables are either grown in gardens located on the property or shipped in from other local farms. Gail believes that this creates a harmony with nature that really comes out in the food that is prepared.
During my visit to the creamery, I also had the opportunity to sample some of the delicious cuisine that is prepared by the chefs at their restaurant: The Loft. For lunch I had one of their specialty dishes called “Puttin’ on the Fritz Wrap,” named after co-owner, Peter “Fritz” Kunz, MD. It was a w
hole wheat wrap filled with grilled chicken breasts, spinach, fresh peppers, mushrooms, sun-dried tomato pesto, and three of their organic raw milk cheeses. Upon first bite, it was clear that this wrap had much more flavor than an average wrap. The vegetables were crisp, the chicken was bold, and the cheese was outstanding. For a side, try Kale Greens. They are seasoned to perfection and taste great.

According to Gail, all of the processing that most normal foods undergo dulls that flavor. Some other Loft favorites that you will enjoy – minus the guilt – are their fresh salads. Two favorites include the Smoked Salmon Salad, which goes deliciously with their low-fat honey mustard dressing, and their Field of Greens Salad.

Traders Point Creamery also offers field trips, guided tours, a farmer’s market, and milking parlor. It is one of Indy’s best locations for supporting local farmers and buying organic foods.
